MP: High cost of living is affecting my body size

The difficult economic times have been orchestrated by the high taxation which the government imposed on the people. Such taxations originate from the escalation of fuel prices, which impacts an escalation of prices of basic consumable goods.

Another serious economic issue is the Finance Act 2023 suspended by the court. This has made many people unable to put food on their tables.

Osogo also known as Bensouda, has joined Kenyans in complaints against the high cost of living. Carrying a big sufuria and a cooking stick, Osogo matched on Kendu Bay Oyugis road to show her anger. Osogo expressed concerns that even her big body size will reduce due to her inability to get enough food, which is orchestrated by the high cost of living.

“The high cost of living is a serious problem in our country. I also feel pinched by its adversity and am worried that even my body size will reduce if our country's hard economic times continue,” Osogo said.

The Legislator accused the government of paying deaf ears to Kenyans’ complaints over the high cost of living.

She challenged the government to listen to the people to address their grievances.

“I want to urge President William Ruto to develop proper listening skills. The listening skills will enable him to understand pertinent economic challenges affecting Kenyans,” Osogo said.

She said that the government will be able to address the economic problems affecting Kenyans if President Ruto takes time to listen to them.

“You cannot address a problem if you don’t understand it. But the best way to understand a problem is to listen to citizens' complaints,” Dr Osogo said.

Rangwe MP Lilian Gogo said the government must be pushed. Gogo promised to take every possible action to pressure the Kenya Kwanza government to reduce the cost of living.

“My colleagues in the Azimio coalition will always be committed to pushing the government to lower the cost of living. We are doing this through peaceful demonstrations,” Gogo said.

George Ojowi, a resident of Homa Bay County, said life is unbearable for many people with low incomes. He called on the government to rescue Kenyans by making life-consumable goods affordable.

Ojowi argued that they can no longer meet a number of their needs. He said the current situation is contrary to when he used to have money for spending on luxuries.

“Today, one kilogram of sugar costs Sh240 compared to Sh120 we used to buy it before. I appeal to the government to rescue us,” Ojowi said.
